#my mostly plant based ass thinking eating something with meat/meat substitute a few times a week is enough protein#in a diet of otherwise all fats and carbs#i hate my immune system though bc i get MORE depressed when i eat meat regularly vs when i'm plant based#can i please get some positive reinforcement here.

what to do when you have a food restriction for medical reasons but are craving said food restriction?
#not that i expect top notch diet advice from tumblr buuuuuuut but maybe this would reach the nerds on here#the ones that know what they're talking about#i'd try to fix it myself but i'm not done finishing my nutrition and dietetics course#ok so for context if you need it#doc has restricted me from any foods high in fats and oils ever since i got infected with dengue. says we have to wait a week.#but now here's the big big problem#i'm craving fried foods badly#deep fried#coated in disgusting amounts of sauce.#i want to feel the oil hit my tongue#AND ALSO#i have a restriction to sodium but i'm craving heavily processed foods. think instant ramen or those frozen cook them yourself chicken nugg#what do i substitute that with...#what is it that i'm possibly deficient in that makes me crave this much...#its so frustrating.#TL;DR: i'm craving salty oily foods but can't have salty oily foods what do i do?#food tag#ryanmbles

Delighted to report I finally cracked the code on my quest to successfully emulate Starbuck's Apple Crisp macchiato—and the secret is Oatly Barista Edition. That was the magic I was missing in my previous (admittedly still tasty) attempts. Not that anyone else is this obsessed about a seasonal apple pie flavored coffee drink as me, but for future reference, to create a 16 oz cup:
2 pumps syrup (aka 1 tbsp/0.5 oz)
3/4 cup Oatly Barista Edition oat milk floated on top of syrup
ice filled to 2 inches below the rim of the glass
top with 2 shots of blonde espresso
drizzle with spiced apple drizzle (or be lazy like me and just use this, it's close enough and lasts forever in the fridge)
✨✨ MAGIC ✨✨
#this is apparently the oat milk used in stores (as i spied a barista making one)#and using regular (even the thick/'full fat') oatmilks will have it tasting just a little waterier than expected.#i have just a little bit more of the bottle of actual syrup i paid way too much for in the fridge#then i'll have to like#suffer until i can buy another at the end of the year#(and by suffer i mean find an okay but inferior substitute because i am too lazy to make it myself)#(torani's apple syrup with a few drops of lorann apple pie flavoring would probably be fine)#yes i wrote this entire post because my brain wants to write but also wants to procrastinate writing#so have a silly recipe instead

Wait have they actually taken away porky's stammer that was like all he had
#like theres nuance to be sure#but like i feel like you could just not make it the butt of the joke#like I'm sure they've done it where him not being able to get a word out was the entire joke#but most of what i remember of porky pig is that he just sort of talked like that#and that typically the other characters didnt acknowledge or comment about him communicating any differently#i know the original actor wasn't doing a voice that was just the way that he talked#surely respectfully representing a stutter is better than taking it away right#or you could like. use literally any other character than porky. if its that big of a deal#like shit dude not being able to get a word out and substituting a different word you can get out is how you actually deal with that right?#like arguably the character's name being a fat joke is not the most respectful either#if somebody understands this better than i do I'm all ears#i guess i should not be surprised by being baffled by brand management executives or whatever#i kind of just feel bad for the current voices of these characters#that probably wasn't the job they aspired for

literally why do i ever buy a burger. We Have Burgers At Home. They Are Nicer
#post inspired by how i just cooked a burger it was delicious#this isn't like deeply held i understand completely why one would want less-home-accessible burger experiences#(eg very crispy fried onions [annoying to make imo]‚ exotic toppings one would not think of‚ important gimmicks for a gimmick occasion)#and / or be hungry for burger and unable to make own burger for a variety of physical and circumstantial reasons#but me personally i hate novelty and difference and usually can stand up long enough for slicing and cast iron pan usage#so. a personal note for me. just cook burger it is nice. stop being disappointed by local burgers that are simply cooked less well#box opener#frankly a lot of this is that if i make fancy burger at home i don't then need to enter a negotiation re: whether i can refuse cheese#i like cheese but i like to be able to opt in to it. also frankly i prefer my usual garlic aioli-and-avocado substitution more#it serves a cheese purpose (fats‚ enhanced savories) so i consider it a reasonable exchange#but places with fancy burger are soooo offended by my disinterest in their four slices of swiss.
